The Maker Lab is finally up and running! Equipment is in place, and regular classes and training sessions are scheduled and being held by appointment. You too can discover some new technology or take advantage of tools you might not have at home. It includes button maker, Ellison die cutter, Sewing machine, 3-D Printers, Virtual Reality goggles and programs, speakers, digital sound mixers, cameras and camcorders, laptops, and robotics paraphernalia.
To use some of these items, you can check the library calendar to see when training classes are scheduled, often on a weekly basis. Or, you can call or contact in-person the front desk to schedule training. Right now, the Maker Lab is not staffed all hours the library is open, but hopefully it will be with volunteers and students in the fall. The front part of the Maker Lab is home to the equipment; the back half does not yet have electricity needed so it is open for quiet study and regular library use on a walk-in basis.

We are an organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting the Chico branch of the Butte County Library. We are committed to making our library a place where families and community members can learn and grow.
We have a book sale every Saturday from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in the Chico Library meeting room. There are no book sales on holiday weekends when the library is closed. All proceeds support the library.
Your time keeps the library open. We need you.
For every 100 volunteer hours, Chico Friends of the Library will donate $25 to the library. That adds up when a typical quarter sees over 8,000 volunteer hours worked.
